Relaxation in Pregnancy Classes - For a calmer, gentler birth
Learn and practice relaxation to help you prepare for a positive birth experience. In these weekly sessions, you’ll learn crucial breathing and visualisation techniques, which will help you remain calm and in control throughout your labour and birth.
Relaxing in this way will help you improve the quality of your sleep so that you feel more rested and energised in the morning.
You will also enjoy having the opportunity to discuss birth-related topics so that by the time your baby arrives you feel ready and confident. Our aim will be to build a positive mental attitude so that your mind and body work in harmony with your baby during the birth. (Please note that we will not cover general topics, which are talked about in other antenatal courses such as NHS or NCT classes.)

The classes will primarily focus on:
- Specific breathing techniques which help to increase the effectiveness of surges (or contractions) - this can result in shorter surges and labour
- Increasing your confidence in your body’s ability to birth, reducing fear and anxieties related to labour
- Learning and practicing profound relaxation to support your body during labour and prevent the 'Fear – Tension – Pain' Syndrome
- Learning positive visualisation and mental rehearsal to prepare for a positive birth
- Promoting health and wellbeing throughout pregnancy (healthy eating, healthy weight gain, improving quality of sleep, etc.)
Is it for me?
Whether you are a first time Mum or have already had one or more children, this course is for you if you wish to experience a calm and gentle birth. The content of the course doesn't go against drugs or planned Caesarean sections as both are sometimes preferable or even necessary. I believe that bringing a child into this world can and should be a wonderful experience; not something to dread or to forget.

To support your learning, you will receive a free self-hypnosis CD, which has been written and recorded specifically for these classes. The CD is designed to be listened to daily to reinforce the positive messages given in the classes. This is a powerful method for you to learn deep relaxation and positively prepare for the birth of your baby. You will also receive a book and other support material.
